COACH REESE

Reebok Ambassador, Registered Amateur Fighter and Certified, Licensed USA Boxing Coach, On-set Boxing Consultant, and The Owner and Founder of Women’s World of Boxing, East Harlem, NYC.

Coach Reese started Women’s World of Boxing Club in 2007 to offer women a safe, comfortable and uplifting environment to learn the sport of boxing.

She was introduced to boxing fourteen years ago when she was looking for a way to get in shape and shed some of her 220 pounds. Through the sport, she found confidence, developed inner-strength and lost over 70 pounds.

Women’s World of Boxing trains women and girls on both competitive and non-competitive levels and offers both group and private “technical” boxing training for women ranging in age from 15-76. Coach Reese’s boxing training focuses on proper body mechanics in boxing, punching techniques, building combinations, stamina, endurance, self defense, and in improving overall body strength by incorporating H.I.I.T. in between rounds.

Her love of the sweet science, along with her total body transformation, led to her leaving her 19-year career in publishing and choosing her mission to open the first women’s boxing gym in New York City.

BOXING MECHANICS

Our BOXING INTRO is constructed to devote more time to the novice boxer, and provide in-depth training of your natural body movement to aide in constructing your boxing foundation.

TRAINING INCLUDES:

• Jab-Right-Hook and Upper Cut

• Movement and Punches

BOXING TECHNIQUES

Boxing sessions are structured to help the novice boxer improve their boxing skills, punches and to begin building boxing combinations. All WWB group training is women only and consists of small groups that focus on punching techniques and in improving overall body strength by incorporating H.I.I.T. in between rounds.

Prerequisite: Boxing Mechanics - Level 1 

TRAINING INCLUDES:

• Basic Punching Techniques

• Mirror Work and Shadow Boxing

• Jump Roping for Boxers

• Heavy Bag Rounds

• Speed Bag Rounds

• Double-End Bag Rounds

• Conditioning

RING READY

Level 3 Group Training consists of small groups that focus on punching techniques, offensive/defensive sparring drills, building combinations and in improving overall body strength by incorporating H.I.I.T. in between rounds.

Prerequisites: Boxing Mechanics - Level 1 + Boxing Techniques - Level 2

TRAINING INCLUDES:

BUDOKON YOGA

Expect to experience the integration of yoga, martial arts, and calisthenics inside New York's first women's boxing gym!
All Budokon classes will be facilitated by Petra, an avid martial artist who regularly trains in Jiu Jitsu, Kickboxing and Boxing.

FAQ'S

Q: Do I need any experience?
A: No prior boxing experience is necessary.

Q: I haven’t exercised in a few years, do I need to get in shape before I start training?
A: The only thing you need to get started is motivation, drive and a desire to learn. We are a judgment-free boxing club that welcomes all to “come as you are.”

Q: Will I lose weight?
A: Boxing training is great for weight loss. It’s an intense sustained workout that burns between 500-1000 calories depending on the intensity. Training usually lasts 90 minutes and although it might seem slow after completing Boxing Mechanics, soon enough you’ll be sweating like you never have before.

Q: Why is boxing such a good workout?
A: Training like a fighter is a total mind & body workout that combines aerobic exercise with calisthenics. It tones the body while increasing muscle mass and decreasing fat. Boxing improves endurance, stamina, reflexes, balance, flexibility, cardiovascular health, self-discipline and self-confidence.

Q: Am I too old/young to learn how-to box?
A: You are never too old to learn how to box. Our current members range from ages 15-62.

Q: I’ve had knee surgery in the past, can I take up boxing?
A: We do have clients that have had knee surgeries and train without restrictions but when beginning any exercise program we recommend you consult your doctor first.

Q: Is anyone going to hit me?
A: No one is going to hit you. Upon completion of our Boxing Mechanics, and after joining our regularly scheduled training, over time you will have the option to spar.

Q: Will I be pressured into sparring?
A: You will not be pressured into anything, and sparring is entirely optional.

Q: I’ve taken boxing classes before, do I still need to take Boxing Mechanics?
A: Regardless of any prior Boxing, Mixed Martial Arts, or Muay Thai experience, to begin training with WWB you must take our Boxing Mechanics.
