Community Partnerships and Programs

• MOVING BRAINS FIGHT CLUB is a partnership between Coach Reese Scott of Women’s World of Boxing and neurologist Dr. Jose Cabassa of Moving Brains Neurological Care, teaching technical boxing to patients with Parkinson disease, a progressive nervous system disorder that affects movement. Boxing helps to build stability and keep patients mentally engaged, while allowing Dr. Cabassa to observe their reaction to treatment and exercise. Established in 2019, this partnership reflects the philosophy behind Dr. Cabassa’s clinical practice focusing on daytime mobility, function, and well-being to enhance quality of life and decrease health risks in patients with neurological conditions, and Coach Reese’s commitment to community empowerment and using boxing to achieve one’s goals.

• NYPD 23rd an 25th PRECINCT

In 2020, concerned NYPD detectives and officers of the 23rd Precinct approached Coach Reese about a partnership to address the futures of children they meet through the precinct. Through the partnership, Women’s World of Boxing provides training and mentorship to children from the East Harlem community in order to encourage discipline, structure, a sense of personal safety and accomplishment, to provide a supportive community through the sport of boxing.

• AFTER SCHOOL GIRLS BOXING CLUB

Established in 2018 with the opening of Women’s World of Boxing gym, the WWB Girls Boxing Club supports and motivates teenage girls to make their voices heard and their presence known. We offer confidence-building mentoring boxing sessions that provide discipline, structure, and improve the girls’ physical and mental strength, both inside and outside the ring.
