New Yorker Of The Week: Reese Scott's Women-Only Boxing Gym Trains Champions of Life
From Publishing to Boxing | Escaping The Cube | CNBC
I am a registered Amateur Fighter and Certified, Licensed USA Boxing Coach. I founded Women’s World of Boxing Club in 2007 to offer women a safe, comfortable and uplifting environment to learn the sport of boxing. I train women and girls on both competitive and non-competitive levels.
I was introduced to boxing twelve years ago when I was looking for a way to get in shape and shed some of my 215 pounds. Through the sport, I found confidence, developed inner-strength and lost over 70 pounds.
My love of the sweet science, along with my total body transformation, led to me leaving my 19-year career in publishing and choosing my mission to open the first women-only boxing gym in New York City in order to empower females through the sport of boxing.

Technical Boxing Training for Women
I offer both group and private “technical” boxing training for women ranging in age from 15-63. My boxing training focuses on proper body mechanics in boxing, punching techniques, building combinations, stamina, endurance, self defense, and in improving overall body strength by incorporating H.I.I.T. in between rounds.
Along with the assistance of my Women's World of Boxing Team Volunteers, I host Boxing Workshops for girls throughout schools and nonprofits in the city. I am a mentor and partner with PowerPlayNYC, a nonprofit organization that empowers young girls through sports and leadership programs. I have 9 years experience as a motivational boxing coach and have trained over 1,000 females of all ages and fitness levels.
